Estate administration fees
Each administration of an Estate, a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration will vary dependant on particular situations, circumstances and requirements. Please see our fees below.
These figures may however vary in cases with special complications. Therefore, we will provide you with an individual cost estimate at the start of the transaction, which takes your particular circumstances into account. We will provide in writing, an estimate of our fees, VAT and disbursements and what work is covered by our fees.
Full Estate administration
- ascertaining Estate assets and liabilities
- submitting HM Revenue & Customs form IHT400 (where applicable)
- arranging for the payment of any Inheritance Tax payable
- preparing the probate application and supporting documents
- upon receipt of Grant, collecting in the Estate assets and discharging Estate liabilities
- distributing the Estate in accordance with the terms of the Will/the rules of intestacy
- dealing with Income Tax affairs for the period to date of death and the Estate administration period as necessary
- preparing Estate Accounts
- all correspondence, telephone calls, attendances and documentation applicable to the above
Please note, if part of the administration includes a transfer or sale of the property, our conveyancers will deal with this part of the transaction and a separate fee for the work undertaken will be applicable. A quote for your approval will be obtained accordingly
Further, if a Deed of Variation is required this will incur an additional cost on the basis of a fixed fee in the sum of £650 plus vat at 20%
Any further assistance will be charged separately on the basis on our hourly rate of £280 plus vat at 20%
Grant only service
This is the service we offer where you provide all Estate assets and liabilities information and we only prepare the application for the Grant of Representation
- submitting HM Revenue & Customs form IHT400 (where applicable)
- arranging for the payment of any Inheritance Tax payable
- preparing the probate application and supporting documents
- sending the Grant to the client to deal with the remainder of the Estate administration themselves
This is on the basis of a fixed fee as stated below. However, if there are any complications we will advise client(s) of any additional charges so you approve these in advance of the additional work being undertaken.
Our fixed fees
- Initial Consultation Meeting which is up to an hour’s advice and primarily to discuss the deceased’s Estate and follow up letter is £500 plus vat at 20%
- Grant only where an Estate is under £325,000 starting at £2,000 plus vat at 20%
- Grant only where an Estate is over £325,000 and no IHT400 starting at £3,000 plus vat at 20%
- Grant only with an IHT400 starting at £4,000 plus vat at 20%
Our fees based on our hourly rate
- Full administration with no IHT400 is based on our hourly rate of £280 plus vat at 20% on average is approximately up to 30 hours
- Full administration with an IHT400 based on hourly rate of £280 plus vat at 20% on average is approximately up to 42 hours
Expenses incurred by us in undertaking the work we do for you and are charged in addition to our fees.
Additional fees
Per Bank transfer is £30 plus vat at 20%
- File scanning and archiving of £35 plus vat at 20%
- Anti Money Laundering check £4.80 per person including vat at 20%
